Total Fun and Fitness for Life Long Wellness

This program is combining Physical Education Standards with developing student interests and skills for like long participation and application. Student strength balance, coordination, flexibility, rhythm postural control and cardiovascular fitness will be addressed with the creative use of balance/stability balls, aerobic steps and Yoga mats. Student progress and skill development required in state standards will be enriched and enhanced by a program that extends their learning during regular physical education classes and beyond.

Pedometers

Have you walked a minimum of 10,000 steps today? Second - fifth grade students will apply math, social studies and science skills while learning to use pedometers in PE class. Pedometers clip to student's waistband and provide an electronic display of distance traveled, calories burned and number of steps taken. Pedometers are proven to increase student movement motivation and build personal awareness of exercise needed for baseline health and fitness.
