The new music program at the school has had very little funding avaliable and it is in need of much more equipment. These funds will be used to purchase additional musical instruments.
A sound reenforcement system will be purchased consisting of lavaliere microphones with transmitters and recievers. The system will be used by classroom teachers, preformance teachers and community groups. This project was partially funded last year.
The school currently does not have a sound system. This money would go towards the purchase of a sound system (total cost $3148) that could be used for concerts, assemblies and plays.
The goal of this project is to enrich the arts prorgram, generate school pride and enhance artistic appreciation of art and nature involving all Rideout Elementary students through a school wide mural project. Students will participate on an indvidual basis as well as in groups in a hands on mural project that will incorporate the students' design and artistic expression of the Lake Tahoe region.
This project is a multi-site, multi-site workshop to create a series of stories painted on eggs, inspired by what the children have learned about the fragility of the world and caring. Each class will be involved in an in-depth 3 weekcworkshope. Ideas will originate from classroom discussions and by the artist, Cathee van Rossem St. Clair. This program has been previously assisted by the California Arts Council, however they are ineligible for funding this year by this organization.
A software- Photoshop- will be purchased to teach students techniques used in computers to edit photographs. The software will be used by photography, yearbook and newspapper staffs.

Computer equipment will be purchased for the Graphic Art Department so instructions can take place in the classroom. This will provide students with a marketable skill as well as allow access for other students to make use of the software in the lab for projects and assignments.
Grades one through three will be involved in a continued application of involving art lessons to enrich subject matter being taught in the classroom. Ann Colling Dart, a local artist, will volunteer part of the time. All classes involved will have specific topics of study which will then be enriched through artistic applications.
Musical Instruments will be purchased with this grant to be used by all students at Truckee Elementary. The children will use these instruments to accompany themselves in music class and during performances. They will help the children become sensitive listeners and considerate participants. Individually and in groups students will use instruments to study poems, rhymes, game language, songs, dances, math, social studies, and history.
