Egg Painting

This is a multi-site, multi-class workshop to create a series of stories painted on eggs, inspired by what the childrenn have learned about the fragility of the world and caring. Each class will be involved in an in-depth 3 week workshop. Ideas will originate from classroom discussions and by the artist, Cathee van Rossem St. Clair. The focus will be the enviornment, endangered species and various cultures throughout the world. In addition a professional performer - a Zulu from Africa - will enrich several classes with storytelling, dance and music.

Repairs for Kiln

This grant provides funds for repair of a kiln used by 900 students and 37 instructors. The ceramic kiln is used in a variety of subjects including math, science, social studies and humanities. The kiln repair work has already been completed and is once again all fired up!

Arts for the Schools (Egg Painting)

The focus will be on the enviornment, endangered species, and threatened cultures throughout the world. The process involves creating an original story planned visually on paper and then transferring it to the surface of an egg as a miniature painting.
