This weather station is designed to work in conjunction with the Glenshire Elementary and North Tahoe High School weather stations with Excellence in Education has already funded. We would like to give seed money for this project with a plan to seek additional funds from outside groups such as Alpine Winter Foundation, area TV stations, Sierra Snow Lab, or CalTrans. Weather info from this critical area could provide for an array of sources to enhance road condition info.
The Donner Trail River restoration project is an on going effort to restore the riparian habitat to its natural state. The soil behind Donner Trail School was contaminated by a diesel spill then ?cleaned.? As a result of this, the soil became sterile and unable to support any native vegetation. Students, kindergarten through fifth grade, will continue the effort to restore native habitat and study the health of the Yuba River?s riparian environment. The curriculum is standards-based.
