Writer's Express

The book and workbook, Writer?s Express, are state adopted texts that students and teachers can use as resources across the curriculum for writing, grammar and general learning skills. This grant will purchase a total of 216 books.

Indoor River Project

Materials for the construction of an indoor river model based on Trout Creek, a local River system. The students will research, design and assemble a hands-on model of Trout Creek, with the help of project coordinator Jan Ellis. This will be a service learning project as well with hopes to display this model in the town of Truckee.

CELL and Exll Training

Teacher Training for two teams at each elementary site for this program already in place at Kings Beach Elementary (funded by money not available at all sites.) Effort to coordinate teaching practices District Wide. The program is designed to support English Language Learners and children with special needs. High progress children are encouraged to continue their rapid growth while low progress children are guided through the process with continuous support. Teachers are trained in assessment procedures to improve their observation of children to better inform instruction.

Video projector capable of presentations from a computer to instruct students K-5 in the computer lab. Students will be able to follow along at their individual computers. A lot of time is lost giving single instruction to each student.
