Joan O'Lear's ESL students have very little if any formal education. They are typically illiterate in their native language and have no proficiency in other subject areas. A variety of educational materials will be purchased for Ms. O'Lear's class so students can progress in their education while learning english at the same time. Their will be a tutorial relationship with Danny Brolliar's class at Tahoe Lake Elementary and a science class to foster self esteem, multicultural diversity and reinforce concepts.
A large screen television monitor will be used to display student writing for evaluation and discussion. Writting models can be sued for comment and edification to give students a chance of achieving their greatest writing style and voice. The teacher has already purchased components necessary to modify her computer into a screen monitor which will accept info both from disk and direct typing.
