This project will bring exhibits of the arts into the schools and community. A large prominent gallery will be built in the Truckee High School Library and a portable art gallery will be purchased for the use of the entire staff at Truckee High School. The portable art gallery will travel to other schools for Truckee High School exhibits. The portable art gallery will also be able to be loaned out to other sites.
Funding for a video projector and sympodium for use in the science classrooms. The video projector allows images on the computer to be displayed on a large screen with excellent clarity. The sympodium is a table top interface which allows the presenter to write on the computer screen while facing students.
Providing an eclectic selection of high-interest reading materials, I plan to use 15 minutes each block for silent sustained reading and thereby enhance each student's reading skills and improve reading comprehension by a minimum of one grade level.
Students will build competence through using second-language skills within the community. Translating will be done at school levels preschool through high school. Community agencies will include: court, health, businesses, and communications.
Students will learn the language of film, the film makers tools and the precise codes of literature. Students will develop a better understanding of all aspects of film from pre-production, to production and even the marketing of the film itself.
