Video projector capable of presentations from a computer to instruct students K-5 in the computer lab. Students will be able to follow along at their individual computers. A lot of time is lost giving single instruction to each student.
46 gallon aquarium will allow for an artificial environment to thrive in the classroom. Students will understand aquatic environments, their inhabitants and the relationship between the students and the fragile natural environment.
Algebra to go handbooks would help in teaching and explaining the complex ideas and topics included in CPM 1. This resource contains detailed explanations, easy to follow charts and graphs and numerous examples to help build students mathematical skills.
"Epicenter Tower" is an earthquake simulation, construction curriculum. Students will investigate earthquakes and how they effect structures. Students will get an in-depth view of earthquakes and their effects on the environment.
Students will learn the language of film, the film makers tools and the precise codes of literature. Students will develop a better understanding of all aspects of film from pre-production, to production and even the marketing of the film itself.
Teacher Training for two teams at each elementary site for this program already in place at Kings Beach Elementary (funded by money not available at all sites.) Effort to coordinate teaching practices District Wide. The program is designed to support English Language Learners and children with special needs. High progress children are encouraged to continue their rapid growth while low progress children are guided through the process with continuous support. Teachers are trained in assessment procedures to improve their observation of children to better inform instruction.
A five songbook, CD collection (various titles) from which students will enthusiastically learn grammar and vocabulary in Spanish. And, a two video verb usage compilation to enhance the Spanish curriculum.
This grant is for funds to purchase a digital video camera, battery packs, a tripod, a DVD recorder and player, and supplies to get started with. It will be used for student presentations within the whole school.
Purchase of books for small group reading and discussion. Selected to correlate with California State standards in Science, and will be purchased in conjunction with the Science Literacy Program that TTUSD is participating in with Lawrence Hall of Science.
The students at Rideout have designed a native garden and begun to build it in a plot of bare land behind the school. They have researched the native plants, animals and insects and made a plan that they hope will provide an ecosystem that will attract them to this garden.
