Have you walked a minimum of 10,000 steps today? Second - fifth grade students will apply math, social studies and science skills while learning to use pedometers in PE class. Pedometers clip to student's waistband and provide an electronic display of distance traveled, calories burned and number of steps taken. Pedometers are proven to increase student movement motivation and build personal awareness of exercise needed for baseline health and fitness.
Accelerated Reader is a reading program designed to motivate students to increase their independent reading while improving vocabulary and comprehension.
The aim of the GEMS Kits to meet the multiple academic needs of all children in an inquiry based classroom. They offer many opportunities for students to learn scientific concepts in a variety of engaging ways. The GEMS Kits selected are part of the Lawrence Hall of Science GEMS Units, Great Explorations in Math and Science.
Software and individual cassette players for the English Language Development Class (ELD). These materials will aid in our differentiated instruction with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders combined in a multiage classroom.
This project provides additional phonemic awareness practice for K - 3 students targeted as "at-risk" for difficulty in learning to read. It entails working on the Earobics computer program under the supervision of the speech pathologist. Both regular and special education students will use the program.
This grant application is for STAR Math software, to be used by 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. This program allows the student to show his/her knowledge beyond grade level and gives the teacher accurate assessment information in order to teach to the child's needs.

The painting of a snowball target range mural featuring local flora and geographical landmarks facing the school's playground entrance. The project will benefit all grade levels.
The Learning Games Library will serve as an alternate vehicle for all sixth grade teachers to implement differentiated instruction in their classrooms. The games will specifically compliment the sixth grade curriculum in Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies, and promote higher-level thinking and problem solving.
