This grant will provide a piece of weight equipment that all PE students and school athletes can use. It will introduce the "ground-based" weight training theory.
Students will build competence through using second-language skills within the community. Translating will be done at school levels preschool through high school. Community agencies will include: court, health, businesses, and communications.

Providing an eclectic selection of high-interest reading materials, I plan to use 15 minutes each block for silent sustained reading and thereby enhance each student's reading skills and improve reading comprehension by a minimum of one grade level.

Construction tools for use in the NTHS/NTMS auditorium for construction of stage sets. This will engage the students with a hands-on technical aspect of theater arts which is part of the theater arts curriculum and are addressed in Calif. Advanced performing Arts standards.
Geared toward the AP Spanish student with potential benefits for all Spanish students, a listening and speaking lab will improve listening comprehension, productive speaking skills and overall language fluency.
This project will bring exhibits of the arts into the schools and community. A large prominent gallery will be built in the Truckee High School Library and a portable art gallery will be purchased for the use of the entire staff at Truckee High School. The portable art gallery will travel to other schools for Truckee High School exhibits. The portable art gallery will also be able to be loaned out to other sites.
Funding for a video projector and sympodium for use in the science classrooms. The video projector allows images on the computer to be displayed on a large screen with excellent clarity. The sympodium is a table top interface which allows the presenter to write on the computer screen while facing students.
This project will provide students with special needs additional materials to practice basic skills in math, language arts and study skills as identified in their IEPs. These materials will assist in helping these students pass the high school exit exam.
