Summer Reading Programs

Neighborhood Reading Programs: TTUSD teachers and community volunteers are offering weekly reading and fun in various neighborhoods.  No registration necessary, just drop in for all the fun!

  • Donner Creek Mobile Home Park – Wed. & Thurs. Noon-2:00pm, starts    July 17
  • Sierra Village Apartments – Wed. & Thurs. 9:00-11:00am, starts July 17.
  • Henness Flats – Thursdays 9:00am-10:00am, starts July 11
  • Tahoe Vista at Pocket Park – Wed. and Thurs. 9am-Noon, starts July 10.
  • El Andar/Truckee Elementary – Tues., Wed., Thurs., 9:00-Noon, starts July 23.  (El Andar does require registration – contact Eileen Driscoll 582-2650)
  • Truckee Pines Apartments - TBD
  • Assumption Church – TBD

Open Library Times at Glenshire & Tahoe Lake Elementary Schools - Tahoe Lake will be open Thursdays, June 20-Aug 8 from 8:00am-Noon.  Glenshire will be open at 9:00am on Thursdays starting July 11.

Bookshelf Book StoreStory Time for ages 4-8, Saturday, 10:30, starts June 15. Monthly activities for ages 8-12, free book giveaways in July, and a summer book club is in the works. 530-582-0515 for more information.

 

“Reading is SO Delicious!”  At our local public libraries!

Tahoe City LibrarySummer Reading Program begins June 15. Events include: June 27 Face painting (1:00pm), July 18 Cookie Tasting (1:00pm), Aug 1 Sushi Candy (1:00pm) and Aug 9 Wild Things! (12:30pm). 530-583-3382

Kings Beach Library – Summer Reading Program for all ages begins June 15. Events include: July 27 Marvelous Magic by Bill (1:00pm), Aug 2 Puppet Theater (1:00pm), Aug 9 Wild Things! (3:00pm).  Plus a 25th Anniversary Celebration July 16, Library Luau July 21 (4-7pm), and preschool story time Thursdays 10:30am. 530-546-2021.

Truckee Library – Summer Reading Program sign ups begin June 13 with incentives along the way for reading and a grand prize of a $5 gift certificate to The Bookshelf Bookstore. Events: June 19 Magic with Bill, July 10 Edible Crafts, July 17 Stuffed Animal Sleepover/Midnight Feast Drop-off, July 24 Izzy Tooinsky Stories, and Aug 14 Wild Things! All events begin at 4:00pm. Toddler Story Time – 10:30am Thursdays in July. 530-582-7846.

 

Kinder Camp for children entering Kindergarten or transitional Kindergarten: July 15 - August 9, 8am to noon, Monday - Friday. Contact Logan Mallonee 582-2500 ext. 2538
